This Privacy Policy explains what personal information TipMeHat ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Account data: name, email, password (hashed), and, for Artists, profile photo, genre, Instagram handle, and slug.
Payment data: processed by Stripe. We receive limited identifiers (transaction ID, last 4 of card, payout status) but never see full card numbers or bank credentials.
Tipper data: optional name and message provided when sending a tip. Email may be collected for receipts.
Usage data: IP address, browser, device type, and pages viewed, used to operate and improve the Service.

2. How We Use Information

To operate the platform: create accounts, process tips, generate QR codes.
To pay out earnings to Artists through Stripe Connect.
To send transactional emails (receipts, payout notices, security alerts).
To prevent fraud and enforce our Terms.
To improve product features and customer support.

3. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share information only with:

Stripe, for payment processing and identity verification.
Service providers who host our infrastructure, send emails, or generate QR codes — bound by confidentiality.
Authorities, when required by valid legal process.

4. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser, but parts of the Service may not work.

5. Data Retention

We keep account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with tax, accounting, and legal obligations. You may request deletion at any time (subject to those obligations).

6. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS) in transit and hashed passwords at rest. No system is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, write to privacy@tipmehat.com.

8. Children

The Service is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or through the Service.
